CYOA Series1: Love in the of Giants, Heiðr' takes us on a fantasy adventure back in time, thousands of years ago, to the far reaches of the north, along the Arctic Circle, from Russia to Ireland.  Imagine if The Mythos were true, and Fomorian Sea People were fighting for their homeland. Known for their ferocious tactics and intimidating appearances during battle, they both won and lost wars to the immigrating Fir Bolg and Tuatha Da Dannon. Foes and family forever more with the invaders who insisted on moving in.

The war-affected regions as far east as northern Russia, all subject to various migrated tribes...all the way to the Kola Peninsula and further west to Ireland.  Kola, long occupied by the Saami, was also home to the Stallo giants. Immigrants from various western, and then southern tribes, collaborated with the Stallo, forming raiding parties and clans that became known all throughout their violent raids on the peaceful indigenous people.

What Does the Word Arctic Mean?

The Arctic is named after the Greek word for bear. The bear is in Greek άρκτος, or kktos, which is also a word in the constellations of the Big Bear (in Greek Μεγάλη Άρκτος) and the Little Bear (in Greek Μικρή Άρκτος), which appear in the northern starry sky.

Indigenous Artist Feature:  Saámi
Jon Henrik Fjallgren "Mountain Dance"

Fjällgren was adopted by a Swedish Sámi family, and became part of a siida community in Mittådalen, a reindeer foraging area where he worked as a reindeer herder. Fjällgren has been a member of the Sámi Parliament of Sweden since the 2021 election. He represents the political party Sámit.

In the music video, "Mountain Dance", Fjällgren takes us on a magically directed vision quest into the harsh and demanding terrain of his Arctic homeland. Intensely evocative imagery enthralls us with an otherworldly beauty and danger as we journey with him through his physical struggles into a deeply personal transcendence. A beautiful story of a warrior's resolve and blessings of peace found through the good ways of connecting with other energetic beings. Climaxing in a crescendo of emotional humility, Jon's Joik is heard by The Ancestors, who bring him back to his heart's ways of being.

Heiðr connects ancient oral history with documented history and scientific revelations.  The site will continue to evolve as we enhance the 'stories'. It's always an epic adventure.

We were with the Fomorians when they conquered Ireland, lost it to the Tuatha de Dannan and Fir Bolgs, and took it back. We were there when Stonehenge was created, and the first Celtic kings were crowned.  We witnessed the political uprise Uralic tribes migrated from the east to become Odin-loving warriors and Druids, and our legacy of oral traditions take us all the way up to the Kola Peninsula where Jotunn awarded the Sons of the Sun (Saami) with the gift of magical reindeer. In this series,we'll bask in lore that waited 5,000 years for us to discover.

The Celts

Map_Gallia_Tribes_Towns.png

The Celts have long been shrouded in mystery. They left no written record but communicated their past through song and story. However, recent archaeological discoveries, particularly in Hallstatt, Austria, have shed light on their early life, trade networks, and the crucial role natural resources played in their society. Recent findings highlight their craftsmanship, social rituals, and integration of natural and spiritual beliefs, demonstrating their advanced societal organization and cultural influence.

Kola Peninsula Reindeer Herders’ Adaptation to Climate Change

Kola Peninsula Reindeer Herders’ Adaptation to Climate Change

Kola Peninsula Reindeer Herders’ Adaptation to Climate Change Dr. Maria Tysiachniouk, Maria Dugina, Yana Khmelnitskaya, Tatiana Borzenko and artist Dmitrii Novitsky. Animation by Katerina Kubereva Research on reindeer herders’ adaptation to climate change was conducted in 2021 during the expedition to Kola peninsula (April 12, 2021 – April 25, 2021). The case study was conducted by researchers: Dr. Maria Tysiachniouk, Maria Dugina, Yana Khmelnitskaya, Tatiana Borzenko and artist Dmitrii Novitsky. We studied how reindeer herders of Krasnoschelye (Komi-Izemtsi) and Lovozero (Saami) had to change their seasonal work cycle due to climate change. During winters, reindeer herders keep animals in the forest as it is easier for reindeer to find food there. In tundra, animals suffer from recurrent thaws and frosts which lead to formation of several layers of ice crust within the snow cover. In springtime, reindeer herders have difficulty with getting around on snowmobiles. Reindeer herders are most vulnerable in the Fall due to delayed freezing of water bodies. They have to cross patches of open water on snowmobiles at high speed, at risk of drowning. Degraded snow paths make it harder to move herds to slaughter zones. Onset of the slaughtering period affects the quality of reindeer meat and herders have less time to repair corrals. Climate change manifests itself in shifts in seasonal activities that reindeer herders have to adapt to.

Journey with the Sami: Walking in Harmony with Reindeer

The Sami are known as the people ‘who walk with reindeer’, but they not only walk with reindeer, they also rest with them, and they bring us a reminder of an important message from our ancient past, a message we would do well to remember in our modern world. So join Gary and the Sami herders as we walk with reindeers. 📚 *The free booklet to this episode "Experiencing God’s Peace":* 📚 https://tij.tv/offers/experiencing-gods-peace/ 💿 *Similar Topics:* 💿 The Seven Deadliest https://youtu.be/wVQGRokbwiY The Wonders of Space https://youtu.be/C5LRPo7I9A0 Creation: The Man who Captured the World https://youtu.be/KNHsjwA-FTw The Penguin's Shepherd https://youtu.be/gP_ybcQa9yE The Rock https://youtu.be/AK-jlFXGAkk Race to the South Pole https://youtu.be/dDCYzr_F1sA Bear - The Hero Dog https://youtu.be/XGImA9jmxfo Journey into the Rainforest https://youtu.be/zGid9YnUiU0 Rainforest: The Last Paradise https://youtu.be/j5oo7BapYHA https://tij.tv/playlist/nature 🇦🇺 *About the Ministry* 🇦🇺 *The Incredible Journey* is a donor-funded ministry passionate about communicating our bold vision of sharing the good news of Christ and preparing people for the soon coming of Jesus.
