In North America, Caribou are the wild population roaming up to 3,000 miles a year foraging the vast tudra, boreal forests, and mountainous regions of the ARCTIC CIRCLE
in Northern Eurasia they are called REINDEER
Once upon a time...
Long, long, long ago..
In a land so far to the North, and so very cold, that even the sun wouldn't come out for all of December and January. Not much was missed, because everyone else wanted to sleep, too.
When The Sun woke up, he was looking forward to waking everyone else up. He was so excited to see the flowers fold open, bending towards his yummy warmth. He always tended to them first, he loved to see them open their hearts to him as he melted the thin layer of frost slowly, letting it dance lighty into into the last veil of morning fog. The tundra's flora was always delighted at his arrival. IN gratitude, they smiled up at him and made and offering of sweet fragrance. Having bestowed his tender kisses upon each and all his 'good morning' kisses, he left them for the fauna. Longingly, the stretched in the direction he went.
One of The Sun's favorite things to do in May, was to see all of the new faces and personalities born to the indigenous fauna. Specifically, Reindeer.
No matter how many times he witnessed the 'Miracle of Life', The Sun was always surprised when little went noses emerged from their mother's wombs to ready to say 'hello', that they fell right away from their mothers and tried to join in the fun. They mostly fell down at first, and had to calm down to let their mothers feed them. Within an hour, the stood up and tested their legs, and worked on their balance and attitudes until they had their blessing to leave Mother's side and join in the reindeer games.
They grew stronger by the hour, until they could run faster than a Bear! And THEN faster than the WOLF! Before The Sun went to bed, they were strong enough to run fast with the whole herd (which was about 50 mph in a burst). A massive blur of furry beasts, each with their unique markings and personalities. With all of the excitement and joy for the arrival of newborn spirits...

REINDEER FACT
Reindeer are the only deer species to have hair completely covering their nose. Their specialized nose helps to warm incoming cold air before it enters their lungs, and it's also an excellent sniffer. Their good sense of smell helps the reindeer find food hidden under snow, locate danger, and recognize direction.

Indigenous is an umbrella term for groups of people who are descended from those who lived in the Americas, Asia, Africa, and the Pacific before European colonization. Indigenous peoples are distinct social and cultural groups with their own languages, beliefs, and cultures. They are also known for their strong connection to the lands and natural resources where they live, and for their desire to maintain their ancestral ways of life.
The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) acknowledges the rights of Indigenous peoples, including the right the right to self-determination, the right to their lands, and the right to practice their cultural traditions.
Here, animal populations include foxes, bears, wolves, minks, caribou, reindeers and moose. According to the World Wildlife Fund, some stretches of northern Canada have been dubbed the "Serengeti of the Far North" due to wildlife abundance and vertebrate diversity — something Tanzania's Serengeti is known for.
