Explore the magical mysteries of an ancient world...
The story takes place between ancient Russia and Ireland, incorporating historical mythos, legendary heroes, and a world of fantasy rich with giants, elves, magic and intrigue based on lore of old, before the countries we know now were formed, when the first peoples migrated, mated, and created today's races and cultures.
Jötunn territorial conflicts with the Tuatha de Dannan and Fir Bolgs in Ireland, and back up to the Kola Peninsula, where they interact with the Sons of the Sun and follow the creation of Gilabarnet Saami, blessed with skis and the love of reindeer.
The Son of the Sun
Courting in the Land of Giants
The “Son of the Sun” is an epic, a heroic adventure telling the origins of the “Gállá-bártnit,” the legendary ancestors of the Sámi. There is travel, adventure, and legendary danger. The Son sets out on a quest to claim a bride from a land “to the west of moon and sun” that is filled with precious metals and rich treasure. Sailing with a crew of his best men, they travel for a year before reaching the land of the giants. The Son meets “The Giant’s fair young maiden” Questioning who he is and what he is looking for, the daughter is told:
Repose I seek in the storm
A mild smile for my wrath
In life someone to gladden me
In death a friend, in hardship hope
In heartache some support
Under burden of need a comfort
A mouth to share the catch with
Someone to guide me in the unknown
A descendant of us both
She is smitten by him, but he must first defeat her blind father in a test of finger-pulling. With the daughter’s aid in tricking the blind old man, he wins and gains the right to marry her...that's JUST THE BEGINNING of an epic saga! Find out how one girl became the goddess that brought down the house and outshined them all...
We were with the Fomorians when they re-claimed Inis Fáil, and then lost it to the Fir Bolgs. On bended knee we took our oaths, each in kind, from the Tuath Dé. We bore solemn witness as they annointed the nine Ard Rí. We kept the fires fed while they worked with the Priomordials and new Fae to finish the great stone stargate, a solemn promise to the annointed and all of their lineage. Tears fell from our eyes and hearts broke as we watched them leave. With kind eyes they implored us to keep our faith and stay pure of heart; lest the promise they left us should fail. Each of them held us in kind, reminding us that one day they would return.
In their absence, the tribes from the east terrorized innocent clans in their greed for wealth, land and power. Political uprisings and injustice went unmediated and were resolved in blood as more strange tribes migrated from the west. Soon, there came others from the south and the sea...and joined together to route the Tuath-appointed lineage from their holds. They were Óðinn's men; merciless war-mongers ravaging the peaceful lands and people that lay at their mercy.
That was the beginning of the Age of Man. With the gods gone, they were fearful and suspect of the primordials, so they hunted them down, and even the Fae...until naught were to be found for the ages to come. For such was the way of mankind, to live in fear and forget their Truth.
But there were some...who would remember...and pass the sacred knowledge down through the generations to come. And one day they would hear the call, and recognize the sound of the divine, calling them to unite.
